Cookie Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. This policy explains what Newsfactory uses. For more on how we handle personal data, see our Privacy policy.
In short: Newsfactory does not currently set any cookies, and it does not use analytics or advertising tools. The one exception is an embedded video: when you press play on a YouTube video in an article, YouTube sets its own cookies (see below).
Embedded videos
Some articles include a YouTube video. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press the play button. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, but once you play a video, YouTube (Google) may store cookies on your device and collect data about your viewing under Google’s privacy policy. If you do not want this, do not play the video; each video also has a link to watch it on YouTube.
What the site stores
| Item | Purpose | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
nf-theme | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. Needed for that feature. | Your browser’s local storage. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. |
If this changes
We plan to fund Newsfactory with advertising, and we may use analytics to understand which articles readers value. These services use cookies. Before we switch any of them on, we will update this policy and our Privacy policy, and we will ask for your permission through a clear cookie banner that lets you accept or reject them with equal ease.
Your browser controls
You can delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. Doing so only resets your light or dark mode choice.
